VINTAGE 1950 OTTO LINK"SLANT"
CLARINET MOUTHPIECE
Original Facing "5"
Exceptionally Nice Original Condition
Per Theo Wanne, the Facing on the 1st Florida Tone Edge Slant mpcs only went up to a 6. i've seem several 3 facings but not often do yo see a Clearinet 5 or a 6 Facing from the first productions.
Below provides the "Knowledge" that Theo Wanne has provided about the First Slant Signature Otto Link Mouthpieces:
"The first Florida Rubber TONE EDGE mouthpieces had Otto Link written at a 45 degree angle across the back of the mouthpiece, invoking the name Slant Signature Otto Links. The first versions had the tip opening stamp on the table. The shank was rounder and they had a slightly larger chamber than the later Florida models. It had a larger chamber and lower baffle than the later models with the tip opening on the side. Hence it had a darker sound closer to the New York models. This first version was only made up to a 6. Though they also made a H.S. (Hawkins Special) that measured out to a 6 and a J.A. (Joe Allard) version that measured to 6*. Joseph Allard was a professor at the Juilliard School of Music."
Check out the photos of this 70+ year old Vintage Link mpc and you will see the Original Facing Stamped on the Table as noted above, the Maching marks on the Table, and also see just how nice the overall condition is of the Very Desirable Link mpc.
The Hard Rubber has a nice vintage patina to it from use over the manuy years, but I believe that is has sat in the sax case of a Sax I recently purchased, for many years; because the sax I purchased rested quietly in a closet for many years.
Any questions let me know andthanks for taking a look.
