It is a reproduction swords used by the Celtics in the Scottish Highlands during Medieval times. There are two kinds of Celtic sword – the “long sword” and the “short sword”.
At a 31" overall, the sword offered for sale is the “short sword” variety; this was the sword used in close combat as opposed to the long sword which was best in horse mounted skirmishes.
The ancient Celts were fearsome warriors who relished the sting of sword-to-sword battles. This replica is the design used during Celt battles of the early Medieval period. The handle is constructed from solid hardwood with a forward sloping brass quillon at the hilt; brass work of the same design is on the pommel facing upward. The double edge, stainless steel blade measures 23-1/2” from tip to hilt and is equipped with blood grooves, just as the original Celtic battle weapons. The sword is accompanied by a quality made leather sheath that has a belt loop making it easy to use in reproduction/theater event. It is a quite handsome sword that would also be a great addition to a Medieval collection!
