Historic Entertainment Memorabilia from Saturday's Toys presents...
a beautifully designed promotional brochure announcing the upcoming (1969) film releases from Commonwealth United Corporation (Beverly Hills, New York, London, Paris)
The brochure has a focus on the film they believed would have the most worldwide potential: "The Madwoman of Chaillot" starring Katharine Hepburn, Charles Boyer, Richard Chamberlain, Paul Henreid, Yul Brenner, Donald Pleasence and Danny Kaye. Both the film, and the Broadway musical that it inspired, proved to be disappointments at the box office.
Other films represented within the promotional guide include:
It Takes All Kinds
The Monitors (Larry Storch, Susan Oliver, Guy Stockwell, Xavier Cugat)
Cervantes (Gina Lollobrigida, Jose Ferrer, Louis Jourdan)
Assignment: Istanbul (Rossano Brazzi, Christopher Lee)
Dayton's Devils (Leslie Nielsen, Lanie Kazan)
The Girl Who Knew Too Much (Adam West, Nancy Kwan, Robert Alda)
You Are What You Eat (Tiny Tim, Peter Yarrow, Barry McGuire, The Electric Flag)
A Black Veil for Lisa (John Mills, Luciana Paluzzi, Robert Hoffman)
The Committee
99 Women (Mercedes McCambridge, Herbert Lom, Luciana Paluzzi)
Subterfuge (Gene Barry, Joan Collins, Michael Rennie, Richard Todd)
The Day the Hot Line Got Hot (Charles Boyer, Robert Taylor, George Chakiris)
Based on the lackluster performance of these films, it's no surprise that Commonwealth United was over million in debt with its assets sold to American Pictures International (Beach Party) and National Telefilm Associates
The brochure includes fold-out pages with colorful illustration art (artist not identified); and measures 9" x 12.25"
Very good condition; nicely preserved
About Us
Combined Shipping Available
Saturday’s Toys and Collectibles
was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and media historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 15,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe.
Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers):
"Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
We are glad to combine shipping for multiple purchases in order to reduce costs whenever possible. Simply let us know before processing payment for the items selected and we'll be glad to revise and forward a final invoice to reflect the combined shipping price.
This usually works most effectively when combining flat paper items (postcards, newsletters, ephemera, etc.) but we'll do our best to make any combined purchase provide your best value for shipping.
