Offered here is a newly refurbished grenadilla woodLeblanc LL Bb clarinet
. This beautiful example of the craftsmanship exemplified by the Leblanc Corp. Paris factory is a joy to look at and thrilling to play. The tone is big, rich and dark. The response is even and quick from top to bottom. You'll be hard pressed to find a clarinet that plays more perfectly in tune. I found it to be more precise than my Dynamique. The key action is as smooth as a new instrument.
This instrument turned out beautifully. It was a pleasure to work on and even more of a pleasure to play. I completely disassembled the instrument; lightly oiled it inside and out; hand buffed each key; installed all new 3mm, double skin pads; new corks; then reassembled; play tested and then adjusted to my playing standards. The wood is in excellent condition, but does have a minor gouge in the upper section (shown in photo 8). Nearly all of the springs are the original gold plated springs. The keys buffed up wonderfully. The plating on the keys does not demonstrate the pitting that some of this model have. I tested this great instrument with three mouthpieces. With the Sumner I could get a tone Pete Fountain would have loved. With my Woodwind G7 I got a rich full classical tone and with my Larry Combs I was able to produce a very refined rich tone. If you're looking for an instrument that looks fantastic and plays even better, here is your new clarinet.
This clarinet will make a fantastic step up instrument for a serious student. If you're an adult looking to get back to playing, this beauty will give you esthetic pleasure from both the sound and the looks. Please don't buy this instrument to use in a marching band - it's way too nice for that.
Included in the sale is the clarinet and Leblanc case. The stamps on the upper and lower joints are not very deep, so I did not attempt to replace the color. The case is in good condition (I have reinforced the corners) and should serve you well for years to come. If you would prefer a different case, when can discuss that when you decide to buy it. I am including a Sumner Accusticut 3 mouthpiece with this instrument. I also include a new tube of cork grease.
I am a retired music teacher and professional woodwind performer with over 60 years experience. Since my retirement from teaching, I have maintained an active schedule as a performer and have set about to find good quality clarinets (once in a while a flute) in need of repair, which I get back into as good a condition as possible and then get them into the hands of someone who will use it well. These old Leblancs are far superior to all of the new plastic models and to many, if not most of the more expensive wood models on the market today. Why settle for an inferior plastic clarinet when for less money you can have a beautiful wood instrument. My prices cover my costs (most of the time).
I offer instruments which I am proud to sell and you'll be proud to own.
One of my favorite reviews here is, "I came as a customer and left as a friend." If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason, simply return it.
