Description
Up for sale is a pair of Elm bowls I turned on my lathe. Unfortunately I do not know which species of Elm they are. The bowl blanks came from a tree that was cut down in Billings, MT.The smaller bowl is 6 5/8” in diameter and approximately 1 5/8” deep and weighs 7.6 ounces. The larger bowl is 8 3/8” in diameter and approximately 3 1/2” deep and weighs 1.4 pounds.
Once the bowls were turned and sanded to 320 grit I lightly scorched the bowls with a propane torch to highlight the grain patterns and edges of the bowls. Then they were finished using Yorkshire Grit and multiple coats of low gloss Tung oil finish.
