Vintage Versailles Bb Clarinet By Martin Freres. Condition is Used. Serial #G2376 or #C2376. Not sure if the letter is a G or C. Made in France. Possibly from around 1950s.
I apologize for the reddish tone in the pictures. I think the turquoise/teal color of the inside of the case threw off the color of the photos. The last picture is of the case itself and the color is fine. The clarinet is a very dark brown wood and not reddish as it appears in the photos.
This was an estate sale find and it is in amazing condition for its age! I used my own mouthpiece to test it out by running a scale up and down a few times. This Versailles plays well from what I can tell. Nothing feels loose or out of place. The barrel is missing a ring and is unmarked. The mouthpiece is marked X5 and is made in France, based on my research, visiting various woodwind forums. No other markings are on it. I believe it may also be a hard rubber material. There does not appear to be any cracks/repairs of any kind. The previous owner took care of this beauty. Even the inside of the case has minimal age and wear. The case does have some scuffs on the outside, but is still highly functional.
This clarinet came with its own bore oil. I will include a swab, cork grease and the appropriate reeds as an added gift.
